Congratulations to Region 2’s Kim Murray for being named an AlabamaWorks Innovator Award winner during the 2023 AlabamaWorks Conference. Kim teaches at Munford Elementary School in the Talladega County School System. She has participated in several trainings, including the teacher externship program with the Alabama STEM Council. Kim visited several local manufacturing companies where she discovered the high-wage, high-demand jobs in our workforce region. As a result, Kim implemented manufacturing activities in her school, starting with Pre-K and kindergarteners, and hosted Kindergarten Manufacturing Day. Kim said, “We want to start talking to our students sooner and earlier about career tech.” The event allowed engagement with community partners and will soon be expanding to other schools across the school system. We are honored to have a dedicated educator like Kim Murray in Region 2.
The AlabamaWorks Innovator Awards were created to highlight people and programs across the state that take an innovative approach to solving workforce challenges.
