East AlabamaWorks is proud to support Invention Convention, a new STEM initiative in our region, through our connection with the iSTEM Alabama Collaborative. We were honored to host the first regional event at C.E. Hanna Elementary School, which served as our pilot program.
Invention Convention is a K-12 invention education program designed to inspire students in problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and creativity. The program builds confidence in innovation and entrepreneurship while engaging a diverse community of educators, business leaders, parents, and students. Through competitions, events, and a flexible, project-based curriculum aligned with educational standards, students develop real-world skills that prepare them for future success.
At C.E. Hanna, fifth and sixth grade students showcased 38 inventive projects, all reviewed by regional volunteers. Six outstanding projects were selected to advance to the state competition in April, representing East Alabama in this statewide initiative.
East AlabamaWorks is excited to see this program grow and inspire the next generation of innovators. Congratulations to all the students who participated, and best of luck to those advancing to the next stage!
