Attalla – Etowah County’s HIRED program recently held a graduation at Etowah High School. Five students graduated from the program which helps high school dropouts continue their education and earn their high school diploma or GED. The HIRED program is funded through a grant from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Region 2 Board and is about to start it’s fifth year. HIRED stands for Helping Inspire, Remediate, and Educate. The HIRED graduation represents a great deal of hard work and commitment by students who choose to participate in the program, many of whom are working full-time jobs and raising children. Finishing the program and earning that diploma opens doors for the graduates that may have previously been closed…including opportunities to continue their education with post-secondary studies, or simply to get a better job or career.
Congratulations to this year’s graduates – Tyler Aaron Griffitt, Teresa Nicole McCord, Christopher Andrew McCurley, Cole Weston Nunn, and Alaya Lynn Smith.
