May 10, 2022 – Gadsden State Community College today celebrated the launch of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training on their Ayers Campus in Anniston. The college has been working closely with regional industry partners for nearly two years to expand the school’s CDL training to the Ayers Campus. Today, college officials and industry representatives were on hand for a ribbon-cutting and open house at the new Cheaha Center. Gadsden State also unveiled new technology to be used in the training of truck drivers – a training simulator that has modules for training both CDL truck drivers and CDL school bus drivers. The simulator can replicate the look and feel of driving a variety of truck and trailer styles and loads, and can even control weather conditions and traffic conditions. The training instructor can also cause tire blowouts and other emergency situations that a driver may face on the road.

Gadsden State CDL training is a six-week program that consists of 240 hours of classroom and on-the-road training. For more information on the Gadsden State CDL training program click HERE or email skills@gadsdenstate.edu.
