East AlabamaWorks is proud to support a new construction trade training program in East Alabama!

Starting in February, the Associated General Contractors of Alabama (AGC) and the Construction Education Foundation of Alabama (CEFA) will offer a free, 10-month Construction Skills Training Program for anyone who would like to gain the skills necessary to begin a career in the commercial construction industry. Funding for the free training is being provided through a grant from the Alabama Craft Training Board and AGC.

If you have ever dreamed of a career in commercial construction, but lacked the basic skills to get started, here is your opportunity to take the first step on your new career path! You’ll learn from certified instructors using a curriculum approved by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and AGC. Students will get a well-rounded education in construction skills from the basics of hand tools and power tools, to foundations, framing, drywall, and more.

Instruction will include on-line training at home, as well as a once-weekly hands-on lab class to be held at 5349 US Hwy 78 in Oxford.

Whether you are a contractor with new employees who need a skills upgrade, or you are a jobseeker looking to gain the skills to enter the world of commercial construction, this is the class for you! Commercial construction companies all over East Alabama are in dire need of qualified employees. Completion of the East Alabama AGC Construction Skills Training class will give you a leg up on the competition!
