(Gadsden) – A group of educators from Etowah County gathered recently to learn more about workforce needs and the needs of local business and industry by attending an Educators Workforce Academy presented by The Chamber of Gadsden and Etowah County and East AlabamaWorks.
After a short morning presentation on the local workforce, the group was treated to industry facility tours at Prince Metal Stamping and Inteva Products. Over lunch, the educators learned more about technical education programs at Gadsden State Community College, and took a tour of the school’s technical training facilities. The day wrapped up on the topic of healthcare-related jobs with a tour of the Encompass Rehab facility in Gadsden.
Educators Workforce Academies give local teachers and school administrators an opportunity to get out of the classroom and into local business and industries where they can engage with business and industry leaders about local workforce needs and how the education system can work to help fill those needs.
