(August 6, 2019) The East Alabama FAME program welcomed sixteen students into its inaugural Industrial Automation Technology program at Gadsden State Community College. The students were chosen following a rigorous interview and selection process.

FAME stands for the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education. During the 5-semester program, students in the FAME program will attend Gadsden State Community College for two days a week (16 hours) and work in their sponsoring company for three days a week (up to 30 hours per week). The students will be paid a minimum of $12 per hour while they are working for their company.

FAME is the ultimate work-based learning program, allowing the students to gain valuable work experience while they are still in school, and earn money at the same time.

Sponsoring companies for the inaugural FAME class are Bridgewater Interiors, General Dynamics-OTS, Honda, Kollercraft, Kronospan, Resolute Forest Products, and TapeCraft.
